How this works
Methods and privacy
Where the stories came from, how I handled consent, and what this site collects.
Where the material came from
The four stories come from my fieldwork in Mae Sot: interviews, photographs, purchase records and notes.
In each story I mark how I know each fact: I saw it, they told me, it is in my field notes, or it comes from a published source.
Consent
Everyone who appears or is described here agreed to be included, and everyone whose face can be seen in my photos agreed to be shown. The four people in the stories appear under a short description and a case letter, without real names, addresses or contact details. Places are named only by town.
What this site counts
This site sets no cookies and carries no advertising or social media trackers. It keeps a few anonymous daily totals for 365 days, counting how often:
- a story is opened
- a story is read most of the way through
- someone follows a link to an organisation
- someone arrives by scanning the QR code
How the material was chosen
I chose case by case which stories to include, which details to leave out and which organisations to recommend. Where a step was done with others, the timeline says so.
